Artworks: late abstracts

Although these paintings cover a broad spectrum of themes, and occupy a period of some 20 years, they have in common that most have been painted with fast-drying alkyd oil paint, allowing for greater precision of line and clarity of colour than had been possible in many earlier works. Interestingly, the “System with Circles” paintings, from 1981 onwards, pre-date Damien Hirst’s popular “spot paintings”.
