Artworks: early abstracts

The predominant factors in the formation of these works from the late 1950s and early 1960s were the Cornish landscape and coast, and the generation of abstract expressionists forging a new style, both in America and Britain. Canney acknowledged friend and contemporary Peter Lanyon as an influence on his work at this point.
